Through a longstanding partnership with Mariners Church, KidWorks is honored to continue the Lighthouse Community Center’s legacy of serving the Minnie Street community. With Mariners Church generously entrusting the space to KidWorks, we are excited to establish our fourth spoke center, KidWorks Center on Minnie Street (KCM). Building on the center’s existing foundation, KCM will continue to offer after-school tutoring, college preparation workshops, parent leadership classes, and other opportunities that support students and families.

My name is Rosie Estrada, and I now serve as the Site Supervisor at KidWorks Minnie Street site. My journey with KidWorks began when I was a student at the Townsend spoke center, making my role today especially meaningful.
I am the oldest of four siblings, with one brother, who also serves the KidWorks community at our Dan Donahue Center (DDC), and two younger sisters, one of whom is also part of the KidWorks community. Growing up, my parents always emphasized the importance of education and worked hard to find programs and opportunities that would help my siblings and me achieve our goals. Through their dedication, they connected our family with KidWorks.
As a first-generation college graduate, I am grateful for the support of my parents, KidWorks, and the community that helped me persevere through higher education. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach, with a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Stepping into my role as Site Supervisor at Minnie Street, I feel honored and grateful to support students in the community that helped shape my own journey. Having experienced firsthand the impact that family, community, and programs like KidWorks can have on a student’s future, I hope to use my story to inspire students to believe in themselves, pursue higher education, and recognize that their circumstances do not define their potential. It is a privilege to give back and help provide the same encouragement, support, and opportunities that helped me become who I am today.
Families gathered for a spooky screening of the Disney classic, Coco, and learned more about KidWorks’ plan to engage their community this upcoming year.
