I became involved with KidWorks when my son joined the after school programs. At first, I participated in workshops for parents and attended parents meetings. The more my son got involved, the more passionate I became about KidWorks. Now I proudly serve on the Parents Advisory Council.
Share the most meaningful experiences you’ve had at KidWorks? What made them impactful to you?
My son wouldn’t be the person he is today without KidWorks. Serving in the Ignite Leadership program has helped my son develop confidence, learn how to solve problems independently and become a leader. I am proud of the young man he is becoming. My daughter is younger, but I can already see her developing into a young leader.
Can you talk about some of the biggest obstacles KidWorks' programming overcame when you were involved?
Keeping parents informed about all of the resources available to them. That’s why the parent’s council is so important. We can connect parent to parent and support one another.
What does KidWorks mean to you? Looking back, how did KW help to shape your life? How did KW help to influence the person you are today
KidWorks means family - Sonia and the other staff members make me feel like I’m part of the team and are always open to my ideas. I am grateful for the impact that staff has made on my children and the other students at KidWorks.
What are your dreams for KidWorks over the next 10, 20, or 30 years?
My dream is for more families to get involved with KidWorks and for more education and opportunities.
