After School Programs

We are dedicated to building skills that are promoted through intentional teaching and the use of developmentally age-appropriate methods and practice. All learning takes place in a safe, fun and high quality program that fits the needs of both you and your child.

Our after-school tutoring and homework help program for students from Kindergarten – 5th grade. Students enjoy a healthy snack, receive homework assistance, and learn an enrichment lesson based on one of our four foundational pillars: Academics & Arts, Health & Fitness, College & Career Readiness, and Leadership & Spiritual Development.

Health & Fitness

35% of children in Santa Ana are obese, and childhood diabetes is a major risk. Thus, we partner with Nike to offer weekly fitness activities in our parking lot (there is a drastic lack of green space in central Santa Ana!) Through exercise and learning healthy habits, we believe that students will be healthier both in mind and character. We also partner with Angels RBI (returning baseball to the inner city) to provide access to Baseball for our students. The league specifically targets underserved youth and provides them a comprehensive athletic experience at no cost.

KidWorks University Workshops

At KidWorks, we believe it is important to expose students to a wide range of activities that allow them to discover their own passions and talents. Each Friday and Saturday, students can participate in fun, energetic, hands-on workshops led by our dynamic and talented volunteers.  Workshops can focus on art, science, music, dance, creative writing, etc.

On Saturdays, we host our Love in Music program which gives instruction to elementary age students on orchestra instruments. We also have our Avanti music program which provides instrument and vocal instruction as well as performance opportunities to youth.

The vast majority of families in our neighborhood are “unbanked” and living in poverty. Thus, teaching children the basics of financial literacy is imperative for their future success. K-5th graders can earn “KidWorks Dollars” each day for following certain guidelines.

Once a week they can then make a deposit to their savings account in the “KidWorks Bank.” Once a month they get to shop at the “KidWorks Store” for school supplies, sports equipment, and art supplies after they have saved their money. We hope to teach children the power of saving and wise financial decisions, even at this young age.
