For many of the central Santa Ana families KidWorks serves, being able to purchase Christmas gifts is not always financially possible. Their limited funds go to rent and groceries. That’s why the KidWorks Christmas store has been such a blessing for hundreds of families for 16 years.
“What makes the store so special to these parents is that it offers them a sense of being able to provide for their families,” says Sonia Rios-Guzman, KidWorks’ Parent Engagement Coordinator. “They are able to buy affordable gifts for their children to make the holidays brighter. With the expansion of the Dan Donahue Center along with programs at our three satellite centers, we are enrolling even more students and we hope the Christmas store will bless even more families this year.”
Adds Sonia, “Whether you are a church or business interested in a toy drive or a family who wants to join us wrapping presents, the KidWorks Christmas store would be the perfect addition to your holiday plans.”
This year, the store will be open to serve families on, Tuesday, December 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
You can make the holidays a time of joy for these families by helping in three different ways:
Donate Gifts & Gift Cards: Please bring your new, unwrapped items to the KidWorks’ Dan Donahue Center no later than Friday, Dec. 14. If needed, pick-ups can be arranged for large volume donations. Popular gift ideas include: Toys, dolls, games (electronic and board), sports items (balls, mitts, etc.), books, school supplies and gift cards.
Help us set-up the store on Friday, Dec. 14 and Monday, Dec. 17.
Volunteer at the KidWorks Christmas store on Tuesday, Dec. 18: Help wrap gifts for the parents, and assist those needing help loading gifts into their vehicle or cart. Help is also needed with clean-up and tear down on Wednesday, Dec. 19 and Thursday, Dec. 20.
Your help will help continue our 16-year tradition of creating holiday smiles!
