You could say that Tony and Maribel literally know how to set the wheels in motion to improve bike safety in Santa Ana.
Through KidWorks’ partnership with Bike It!, the two avid teen cyclists have been instrumental in securing state funding for additional bike lanes where they are most needed in Santa Ana.
Bike It! is a grassroots group of high school and middle school students who recently secured a $2.37 million grant to install a protected bike lane along a 1.7 mile stretch of Edinger Avenue between the Santa Ana River bike trail on the west and Bristol Street on the east.
Now, Tony and Maribel have been selected for the prestigious honor to be keynote speakers at this summer's Youth Bike Summit later this summer in Minneapolis.
But it’s clearly too far to pedal from Santa Ana to Minnesota!
So, KidWorks is asking for your support to help raise the remainder of the $1,500 they’ll need to make the trip.
